Now that you've tried out some "Hour of Code" activities, we can get down to business with some more serious coding (don't worry, it will still be fun!). You have 5 main options, which are outlined below. If you are interested in something else (a different language, or a different purpose for coding), please let Mrs. Mishra know, and we can probably find something for you!
Option 1: Learn the basics of JavaScript with CodeHS
We'll be using a website called CodeHS (short for Code High School), and you'll be working on their "Intro to Computer Science" course. It will look like school (assignments, due dates, etc), but don't worry, you will be able to work at your own pace, and I won't be marking anything (whatever you "submit" will just be for me to look at so that I can give you feedback to make you a better programmer!).
The first thing you need to do is follow this link codehs.com/go/486C and follow the instructions to sign up!
Option 2: Learn how to use JavaScript to Draw and Animate
If you are more interested in learning how to use JavaScript to create images and animations, then you should sign up for Khan Academy's JavaScript course by following these steps:
Option 3: Learn Web Design, JavaScript, Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, jQurery, HTML, or several other skills, through Codecademy!
This site has lessons to guide you through learning several different languages ans skills! Sign up for an account once, and have access to lessons on a whole variety of skills!
1. Sign up for an account at www.codecademy.com
2. Pick a lesson you'd like to try!
HINT: For an easy way to start, scroll to the very bottom for 3 intro activities. Then branch out into something more complex!
Option 4: Learn Python with the University of Waterloo
If you would like to learn Python, which is a more advanced programming language, which is
"both simple enough for beginners and powerful enough to be used by modern companies", follow this link:

Option 5: Learn to Design Webpages with HTML
If you're interested in learning how to design a website with HTML and JavaScript, then you should sign up for Khan Academy's Web Design course by following these steps:
