Welcome to Grade 10 Swaplings!
There are a few things you should know about this new school year:
1) NEW Bonus SWAP teacher and NEW SWAP Room!
As Mrs. Mishra mentioned back in the spring, she will be teaching only half time this year, in the afternoons. So she won't be around every day for SWAP - but DON'T WORRY! You haven't been abandoned! Mrs. Mishra is still one of your SWAP teachers, but she will be sharing you with Ms. Davies!
Also, SWAP will be moving to Ms. Davies' room, which is room 205 (just 1 classroom over). So every day for SWAP you will go to Ms. Davies' room, and she will be there to meet you. Some days, but probably not every day of every week, Mrs. Mishra will also be there. We will be working together and sometimes trading off days to do activities, announcements, and check up on your progress through Grade 10.
This means that you have TWO dedicated, caring teachers looking out for you! Actually, Ms. Davies has an intern this year, so for the Fall Semester you will actually have THREE SWAP teachers - lucky Swaplings!
Here are your SWAP teachers, all ready to greet you on the first day back!
2) New Reminder Program - Class Messenger
Last year we used the program Remind to keep in touch with you and your parents, and to send you reminders of deadlines, etc. This year, we will be switching to a new program called Class Messenger, which is the same idea, but has more features (including being able to send messages to Mrs. Mishra and Ms. Davies). Please see the instructions below on how to sign up. We strongly encourage parents and guardians to sign up as well!

3) New Expectations for Grade 10
Now that you are in Grade 10, teachers have higher expectations of you, both academically, and in terms of your behaviour. You will have more homework, and more tests and major assignments in your classes. If you fall behind, it's important to get caught up right away, so that you don't fall further behind. Remember that it's always easier to KEEP UP than it is to CATCH UP!
Remember that from here on out, your classes count as credits toward graduation, and if you don't pass a class, you don't get the credit and you will have to re-take the course. If you fail too many classes, you will not be able to graduate on time unless you take summer school. It's our goal to get you to be successful and pass all of your classes so that you can graduate on time.
