To prepare for the combined Unit 6 & 7 Test on Monday, here are the Answer Keys to the practice tests.
Unit 6 Practice Test Answer Key Unit 7 Practice Test Answer Key Tomorrow we are having our first Unit test, which will cover all of Unit 3.
Here is the Practice Test which will help you to study for the unit test. If you have questions, please CHECK YOUR NOTES IN YOUR NOTEBOOKS FIRST, then come see me tomorrow! I'll be in my room from 8am on. Math help in the Fishbowl is always open at lunch (I have a presentation happening in Craft Club at lunch, so I will mostly be unavailable at lunch time). If you want to re-write your 3.6 concept check (Factoring by grouping and decomposition), Ms Graf has the concept check for you at Math Help tomorrow at lunch. Below are the notebook pages from the first unit. (Special thanks to Sarah Hagan at mathequalslove.blogspot.com for most of the resources and inspiration for the pages in this post and throughout my notebook) Students are invited to create their own title page (which is not counted in the page numbers). Page 1 - Growth Mindset Quiz On the first day of Notebooks we did a Growth Mindset quiz, and discussed the idea of a growth mindset (where you believe that you can train your brain and learn new skills if you work hard and if you are persistent), as opposed to a fixed mindset (where you believe you are "smart" or "not smart" or "a math person" or "not a math person", which is a less productive mindset and does not encourage hard work and persistence). I'll post more about growth mindset in another post. Page 2 and 3 - Reference Pages We put in a Problem Solving ideas list, which we will be discussing more later. Then we put in a Mathematician's Toolbox with a neat fold-out number line (see below for more photos). Starting our First Unit (Chapter 3 from the textbook)
Sorry for the confusion, we do the units out of order from what is in the textbook. Table of contents so far - students will fill this out as we add pages. Welcome to Mrs. Mishra's Math 10 class!
Today (thursday) we will be discussing the course and what to expect, as well as the course marks breakdown. I will also explain about the Interactive Notebooks that we will be using to organize our notes and as a great study tool for this course. Can't wait to meet you all! Check out this video about the fossils of dinosaur footprints! We can use these fossil footprints to figure out how dinosaurs moved, and how quickly!
Today we will watch 2 videos to review the processes we've talked about in section 4.3
Mathgirl's Simplifying Radicals Video (10 min) Mixed Radical to Entire Radicals (3 min) Then we will complete this 4.3 Assignment, which will be due tomorrow and will be for marks. On Monday or Tuesday we will do a concept check on 4.3 & 4.4 If you want some more review of how to go from entire radicals to mixed radicals and back before you do the concept check, check out this 4.3 Overview Powerpoint, made by a teacher in Alberta named Mrs. Bao . We are now learning to factor more complex trinomials, where the first term's coefficient is greater than 1.
